How the Notebook works

The evaluation cycle.

Each report captures the judgment, states its uncertainty, checks it against additional evidence, and defines what should be examined next.

  1. 01Record the lookObservation and context
  2. 02Make the callInterpretation, grades and projection
  3. 03State confidenceCertainty, risk and limitations
  4. 04Check the evidencePerformance data and player history
  5. 05Review and improveReconciliation, next look and retrospective

Technical demonstration

Run the current multi-source pipeline.

This interactive demonstration uses the same role- and level-aware data path as the Notebook. It resolves a player through MLBAM, determines current assignment and competition level, loads the correct official-stat schema, and checks independent advanced sources where coverage is valid.

  1. 01Resolve identityMatch the player to a stable MLBAM record.
  2. 02Determine contextIdentify assignment, level, position and role.
  3. 03Load correct statsKeep hitter, pitcher and competition-level schemas separate.
  4. 04Check other sourcesQuery tracking and value data only where coverage applies.
  5. 05Preserve provenanceRetain source, definition, availability and capture time.

Connected data sources

The data behind the demo.

Player identity and official statistics come from MLB. The pipeline then checks independent sources for tracking and value data, applying each only where its coverage is valid.

Ball and player tracking

Baseball Savant

Statcast contact, swing, bat-tracking, defense and running data where public coverage exists.
